Shakib Bat Returns Tk 2 Million from a Facebook Auction

Shakib Al Hasan who was rated as one of the most popular ESPN WORLD FAME 100 athletes in the world in 2019 has donated his bat in a Facebook auction to help fundraising for Covid-19 victims. On Tuesday, Shakib revealed on Facebook Live that he will be auctioning the bat which he was using during his trip to ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The auction took place on Wednesday on a Facebook page named “Auction 4 Action”.

The auction hosted by Arif R Hossain has lasted for around an hour and has attracted over 3,000 shares and nearly 300,000 views. A Bangladesh-born US citizen named Raj bids the highest bid for online bidding. The bat was sold at Tk 2 Million. The money goes to the Shakib Foundation for its battle against the novel coronavirus. Raj mentioned he would like to keep the bat as a gift for his kids. Shakib was very pleased with the auction result as Raj has been bidding since the beginning and he also thanked those who joined the bid.

Shakib’s decision to auction this bat came because of Mushfiqur Rahim’s announcement to auction his bat, which he played with to score Bangladesh’s first ever double century test. Shakib had a fantastic run at the ICC World Cup last year as the left-hander scored 606 runs in eight matches with an overall score of 86.57 and a strike rate of 96.03. The bat was very meaningful for him and that’s the main reason he was donating it.

Shakib is currently banned for all crickets events by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for two years consequences of breaching the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code. Shakib is expected to be back in October this year.
