Rohit Sharma remembers in a T20I match when he missed out on 200
India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma said he had a chance to score the first-ever double-century T20I during Indore’s 2017 match against Sri Lanka.
Rohit, the fastest hundred-record T20I in the game (35 balls), was dismissed from just 43 deliveries on 118. Seven overs remained in the innings when he cast off.
A fan reminded Rohit of the knock in the live chat arranged by the IPL champions. “When I got out, there were still more than nine overs (seven) remaining. So it was a fair chance, but well, I’m going to take that, 35-ball 100,” the MI captain said.
Rohit also answered several fan questions about non-cricket. He said it was his wife Ritika Sajdeh who more than remembered important dates and admitted he liked Maths a lot during his school days.
“I used to love doing arithmetic — addition, subtraction. I used to love geometry and algebra, as well. While it was challenging, I used to love theorems and all that,” he said.
Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer to have played in a fifty-over format for over a double-century. He accomplished the feat three times-against Sri Lanka twice, and against Australia a double-ton.
In addition, the Indian opener holds the record for the highest individual score in ODIs-264.
