INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE 2020 POINTS TABLE

The IPL 2020 got underway with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on last year’s finalist Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener in Abu Dhabi. CSK sprung a surprise by getting the better of Rohit Sharma’s men, largely thanks to a brilliant knock from Ambati Rayudu. The win gave CSK crucial two points, helping them get on the board in the IPL Points Table. The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, though, has completely different feel to it. Firstly, the tournament was shifted out of India to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the coronavirus pandemic, and secondly, fans are not allowed to attend any of the matches. As for how the sides will fare is a mystery, as is the quality of the pitches that will host the matches at Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah. But all said and done, the scrap to finish in the top four of IPL Points Table is well and truly underway and for the beleaguered people of India, could well be an escape they so desperately need.
