Yorkshire terminates the contracts of Ashwin, Pooran and Maharaj

Yorkshire agreed to cancel R Ashwin, Nicholas Pooran and Keshav Maharaj’s contracts-with mutual consent-due to the Covid-19 pandemic. All of the UK professional cricket was put on hold until July 1, postponing the launch of  English season.

Ashwin had signed up  to participate for eight games of the 2020 County Championship season, Pooran was expected to appear in the T20 Blast while Maharaj was signed for the first two games of the County Championships.

“The empathy of the players in this subject is much appreciated” said Martyn Moxon, the director of cricket for Yorkshire. ” They understand the current situation. We believe that we’ll be able to meet with them again in the future at Emerald Headingley.

They’ve been incredibly professional and understand the confusion facing counties at the moment. We believe that we’ll be able to see them in the future at Emerald Headingley.”

Due to COVID-19, some counties have been constrained to cancel player contracts. Essex agreed to move Peter Siddle’s deal to 2021. Nathan Lyon, BJ Watling, Glenn Maxwell, James Faulkner, and Matt Henry are some of the signatories from overseas who have had their contracts terminated.
