IPL 2020: Rajasthan Royals’ fielding coach Dishant Yagnik tested positive for Covid-19

Dishant Yagnik, fielding coach of Rajasthan Royals has tested positive for COVID-19. The test was carried out bearing in mind that the team members need to assemble in Mumbai next week for their departure flight to the UAE. The franchise stated in a statement, “implemented an extra test for all players, support staff and management travelling to the UAE in addition to the two tests recommended by BCCI, to make sure as robust a process as possible.”

Currently, Dishant Yagnik is in his hometown Udaipur, and has been advised to be admitted to hospital for his 14 days quarantine. Dishant will undergo two tests after 14 days, as per BCCI’s protocols. 

On return of two negative results, after 6 days of self-isolation, he will be allowed to join the team and undergo three more negative tests upon arrival at the UAE.

The franchise disclosed further that they have requested everybody who has been in close contact with Dishant over the past 10 days to isolate themselves and get COVID-19 test. They can confirm that in the last 10 days there have been no Rajasthan Royals or other IPL players in close proximity with Dishant. They also wish Dishant a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him join the Rajasthan Royals camp in the UAE soon.

Yagnik is the first IPL member to be tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the tournament. The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in the BCCI rescheduling the 2020 edition of the T20 league to the UAE from 19th September to 10th November.
