How the club is shaping up for Big Bash League 2020-21 – Melbourne Renegades

With the player contracting window for the Big Bash League 2020-21 clubs set to open in the coming weeks, we’ve laid out all the specifics of who your team has under lock and key and who might be exploring the open market.

Melbourne Renegades

Big Bash League 2019-20 result: Eighth

Big Bash League 2020-21 squad so far: Dan Christian, Cameron Boyce, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sam Harper, Zak Evans, Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Jon Holland, Mackenzie Harvey, Shaun Marsh, Will Sutherland, Kane Richardson, Beau Webster, Jack Wildermuth

Big Bash League 2019-20 squad members off contract: Tom Cooper, Tom Andrews,   Nathan McSweeney, Andrew Fekete, Joe Mennie,  Alex Doolan, Harry Gurney (Eng), Richard Gleeson (Eng), Samit Patel (Eng), Mohammad Nabi (Afg), Luke Robins

Melbourne Renegades will need considerable internal change if they are to make amends for their Big Bash League 2020-21 title’s horror defence.

Apart from last season’s hodge podge of internationals, Tom Cooper is the only Big Bash League 2019-20 player who is off-contract, leaving them little space to search for local signings.

It isn’t just doom and gloom though. The excellent individual campaign of Beau Webster has shown that you never know when a talented player will take the leap. A similar spark could be given by the likes of Jake Fraser-McGurk, Will Sutherland and even more experienced heads like Jack Wildermuth and Sam Harper.

If they have some greater luck with their international signings (Faheem Ashraf and Usman Shinwari pulled out on the eve of the tournament, while Harry Gurney was limited to 4 matches due to injury), expect Melbourne Renegades outfit to be substantially better.
