Hemang Amin appointed as interim CEO by BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has elevated Hemang Amin, chief operating officer of the IPL as BCCI’s Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO). A BCCI source revealed to the media, “Hemang Amin has been given the interim charge of CEO of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).”

Last week, India’s apex body of cricket accepted the resignation of its CEO, Rahul Johri. A source from BCCI disclosed that Johri had tendered his resignation a few months ago and now it has been ratified by India’s cricket governing body.

In 2016, when Shashank Manohar was the BCCI’s president, Johri was appointed as the CEO. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian cricket team has not played any sort of cricket since March.

Last week, after a long hiatus caused by the pandemic, international cricket was finally resumed. In the first test, on the back of Shannon Gabriel ‘s outstanding bowling performance, West Indies beat England by four wickets.
