England’s Morgan heads to the Olympics to compete for the T10 Format  live cricket score

England’s World Cup champion Captain Eoin Morgan says cricket’s 10-over system will be perfect for a major multi-sport event such as the Olympics, as the whole competition could be compressed into 10 days. Cricket was represented at the 1900 Olympics and played at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, but was mostly absent from multi-sport competitions, some say restricting its expansion outside the conventional pockets. The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham will include a women’s Twenty20 tournament, but Morgan suggests the T10 style will be better fit than T20, 50 overs or test cricket.

Morgan mentioned that the one aspect that T10 provides over the three models that render it more attractive to the Olympic Games or the Commonwealth Games is the idea that you will play the entire tournament in the span of 10 days. To hold a tournament in such a small period of time maximizes the potential and visibility it can bring for the event he added. During the Abu Dhabi T10 Tournament the 33-year-old Delhi Bulls captain said that when you can play cricket in 8-10 days, it really does make it attractive, and on top of that it will really be highly exciting. Twenty20 has emerged as the most common cricket format, having spawned many franchise-based leagues around the world, including the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL). But Morgan, who plays for the IPL’s Kolkata franchise, said that T10 had its own merits.

He also believes that the most important part of a T20 game is always overs 10 to 20. But if anyone would look at a T10 game the earlier overs are the most important. He said that players need to make the most of that very short powerplay so to decide who to put in those key positions and in the form that they’re in is the most critical factor.
