Betway to donate Community Shield bet percentage to Sports Charity

On 29 August 2020, the Community Shield this year will see FA Cup winners, Arsenal, taking on Premier League champions, Liverpool, at the Wembley Stadium.

The Community Shield is the annual curtain-raiser for the Premier League and is well known for raising money for charities in the local community.

In line with this, Betway, the leading online sports betting company, announced that they would donate GHC 2 of each Community Shield bet to a local sports charity through their social media accounts.

The funds from Community Shield donations will be guided to a sports-related charity project which requires funding. In 2019 Betway made a GHC 10,000 donation to the Ghana Taekwondo Federation to help train them ahead of Morocco’s African Games.

The sports betting company is committed to promoting sports and helping the local communities that they work in. After its launch in Ghana, the organisation, through many CSR programmes, has continued to support local communities. Among others, their contributions to the COVID-19 Fund and other donations to various health facilities and sports associations in Ghana are most notable.
