bet365 announced that its long-run telephone betting (telebetting) operations had been terminated, reporting that the demand for the service had decreased to minimum, making it redundant.
The Coates family-owned betting business has run the telebetting service since the company was established in 2000 in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Bet365 confirmed that it has shut down its telebetting number 0871 218 4131, disclosing that it could no longer justify the level of staffing for the service.
bet365 has clarified that all telebetting workers have been transferred elsewhere within the organization with the new roles. Meanwhile, telebetting players have been told to contact customer support teams of bet365 to help move their accounts to the online betting platform of the firm’s flagship.
The termination of the legacy wagering service of bet365 sees another tier-1 bookmaker ending its telebetting operation – a popular betting service with players throughout the 80s and 90s.
Nowadays, telebetting remains the realm of smaller independent bookmakers, with Ladbrokes and Coral being the only high-street bookmakers maintaining the operation that is currently in suspension due to lockdown orders.
