Six things you would like to know about the latest investment in Bangalore-based startup, KhataBook from MS Dhoni

Earlier, the former Indian cricket team captain MS Dhoni has invested in a new startup, one that is gaining a huge popularity among small businesses. Here’s more about his most recent startup-investment.

6 things you need to know about KhataBook investment from MS Dhoni :

  • First, let’s begin with startup info. KhataBook is the Bangalore-based account handling applications (app) for small business, which is the latest investment of Dhoni. With the help of a mobile and desktop app, the app allows small businesses to handle their accounts and ledgers seamlessly. In the past, the app was only available on Android. Now, it’s released on both iOS and Android.
  • KhataBook was created by Ravish Naresh in 2016, in Nanded District in Maharashtra. The app has achieved huge growth in four years in order to build a database of 2 crore users, which includes owners of kirana stores and mobile recharge stores from parts of Asia, primarily India. Besides that, the app is also used by users from Nepal, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Currently, it serves more than 500 different types of business, supports 11 languages, and last year has recorded cash transactions of more than Rs 3.7 lakhs.
  • MS Dhoni, former Indian captain has invested in the app, as it has a problem-solving motive. Ranchi-born MSD is from a small town and contributes to the problems of small businesses. This is what he told to Yourstory, ” In the country, there are many new-age companies, but only a few like KhataBook, that make a difference at grassroots level. I grew up in a small-town of India and saw friends and family struggling with obsolete ways to do business and track finances. KhataBook has had an unprecedented effect on the lives of the small merchants and retailers in India.
  • The company claims to have saved 700 hours for every single business that has adapted to the app, after automating the business ledger maintenance affair. This enables businesses to continue to grow and optimize output / profits. KhataBook’s founder and CEO, Ravish Naresh, was especially excited about the collaboration and this is what he mentioned, “We are pleased to welcome Mah to join the KhataBook family. He embodies the spirit of true sportsmanship and entrepreneurship – the desire to adapt, develop and become a leader, concentrate on a greater cause beyond his success. And, these are the qualities which made him one of Indian cricket’s most loved captains. At KhataBook, we aim to create the same level of trust, agility and reliability with our merchants and business partners and be a true partner to them in their venture.”
  • MS Dhoni’s amount of the investment remains undisclosed. Notably, Dhoni has also been the face of the app along with the investment. They unveiled Dhoni as their brand ambassador in KhataBook’s official twitter post just hours before the news of his investment in the startup emerged.
  • This investment comes at a time when the KhataBook claims to have passed the users mark of 2-crore. And KhataBook has set ambitious targets for themselves, with the amount infused by MS Dhone. They are planning to expand across more small towns and bring another 2 crore users on board over the next 12 months.
