ICC: Planning for the T20 World Cup in October is on going

the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday that the preparation for this year’s men’s T20 World Cup and next year’s women’s 50-plus World Cup is moving on even though cricket remains postponed as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The ICC held a conference of the Chief Executive Committee (CEC) with the CEOs of the 12 full leaders and three Affiliate Delegates to address the issues confronting the Boards of their respective countries over the coming months.

The men’s T20 World Cup is being scheduled from 18 of October to 15 November in Australia while the women’s World Cup in 2021 is being scheduled on 6 February to 7 March 7 in New Zealand. CEC has been briefed on current contingency plans for all ICC major competitions, including the 2020 Men’s T20 World Cup and the 2021 Women’s World Cup. Planning for all activities as already scheduled is underway.

Kevin Roberts from Cricket Australia said they were collaborating with the ICC, the government, and the local organizing committee to recognize what it would mean to operate the tournament as planned. The CEC also decided that the Future Tour Program would be revised after 2023, after a variety of bilateral series had been delayed owing to a pandemic.
